Changed my Mind

March 16th, 2008 at 06:21 pm

We have decided to apply the $3000 to one of our loans.

I am very into the LAW OF ATTRACTION. And because of that i believe for me keeping an emergency fund would be telling the universe i expect an emergency, which i don't. Now for some of you this concept may seem crazy but if you are into the LAW OF ATTRACTION like i am you will understand where my thoughts are coming from. (For those rolling there eyes SmileWe do have cc's with room on them just in case a teeny, tiny, miniscule emergency might pop up in the very far distant future)

I totally understand where you are coming from. I don't call it an "emergency fund." I call it "short term savings" which could be for anything from a flat tire, property taxes, car license, or anything else that is not a usual expense like groceries, utilities, and rent. Another example would be if you were saving for a big thing like a house or car, you could call it a "dream account."

yes we agree. i'm starting a misc. needs account with a budget of $500 each month that would be like for what you call short term savings. i'm thinking at the end of each month or so whats gone unused will go to paying down our focus loan at that time.

i have a 'holiday' account, which i put a sum into it weekly. it is used for actual holidays, plus any time i take a day off for something i reimburse myself for what i would have been paid.
